What happens to my photo?

Can I remove objects or people, not just the background?
Yes, two ways. Switch the tool to Magic erase, paint over the object or person, and the AI fills in the background behind it (it works best on reasonably simple backgrounds; very busy scenes can come out imperfect). Or, after a background cut, use the 🩹 Erase brush to trim anything from the cutout and ↩ Restore to bring parts back.
