Cutting out the background is the easy part — every tool here does it well. The difference is what happens when you click download: a credit counter, a shrunk preview, a watermark, or the actual file. We checked all seven on 6 August 2026. Here's what we can say about BGNinja instead, from our own server logs rather than a pricing page: in the 40 days from 13 July to 21 August 2026, the background remover ran 24 times, and none of those jobs failed once a file was accepted — 0 out of 24. Three uploads were turned away before processing even started, which on a 99 MB ceiling is almost always an oversized or unreadable file, not the model giving up. That same 99 MB ceiling is the number in the table below, worth comparing against the rows that just say "per their plan", since several of those tools don't publish a limit until you actually hit it.
In the same window, the site had visits from 69 different countries, led by the United States, India, Pakistan and Germany — nobody paid for an account or hit a credit wall to get counted in that number, because there isn't one to hit. It's a small sample next to a service processing thousands of images a day, and we're not going to dress it up as more. It's also the only set of numbers on this page that didn't come from someone else's pricing page.
Read off each tool's own pricing page on 6 August 2026. This is the number that actually differs between them — the cutout quality is close enough that it rarely decides anything.

Honestly: for one photo, whichever loads first. It matters when you have a batch or a deadline:
Almost every paid background remover follows the same pattern, and it is worth recognising: the cutout is free and looks perfect on screen, then the download is either watermarked, shrunk to a preview size, or costs a credit. You find out after you have done the work.
The reason is simple economics — segmentation runs on a GPU that somebody rents by the second. We run the model on our own GPUs in the Netherlands, so an extra cutout costs electricity rather than an API bill, which is why we can hand over the full-resolution file. The ads around the tool cover the rest.
One thing nobody's free tier changes: nothing here is edited by a person. A cutout around blowing hair, chain-link fence or a glass of water is hard for every model on this list, ours included. Check the edges before you use it for anything that matters.
We opened each tool's own pricing or product page on 6 August 2026 and wrote down what it says about price, sign-up and file limits. We did not run one photo through all seven and rank the cutouts: results vary far more with the photo than with the tool, and a single test image would make that comparison look more rigorous than it is.
So this page compares the terms, not the pixels. If you want to compare quality, run your own hardest photo through two or three of them — that takes five minutes and tells you more than any ranking.
Yes. No trial, no credit counter, no account. You get the PNG at your original resolution, up to 30 megapixels, with no watermark. Ads around the tool pay for the GPU.
On the hardest edges — flyaway hair, fur, glass — remove.bg has the stronger reputation, and we have not run a head-to-head test that would let us claim otherwise. What we can say is what the download costs: theirs is about a euro per image after the trial credit, ours is free at full resolution.
An email address is the price on tools that advertise no price, and it is what turns a one-off visitor into someone they can market to. It is also the simplest way to enforce a free-tier limit.
With BGNinja, yes — no personal-use-only restriction, so product photos and client work are fine. Check the others' own terms; several free tiers restrict commercial use.
