Getting clean edges around hair
Hair is the trickiest part of any cut-out. A photo with even lighting and a bit of contrast between your hair and the wall cuts far more cleanly than a dark-hair-on-dark-background shot. Is my photo kept?

Can I turn it into a cartoon or avatar instead of just a clean cutout?

Can I add or change the background of a picture, not leave it transparent?
Yes: that's the point of the colour picker. Add background to picture with any solid colour from the picker. Change background of picture to a gradient instead, same panel. Is this a background picture generator or editor, and does it remove shadows?
Two out of three. A picture with no background is exactly what the transparent-PNG option gives you. A shadow cast on the wall or floor behind you goes with the background, so for that kind of shadow it works as a picture shadow remover; a shadow falling across your own face stays, because it is part of you. In that sense it is a background picture editor too. It is not a background picture generator that invents scenery from a text prompt: pick a solid colour, a gradient, a blurred version of the original or your own photo instead. Can I edit the background afterwards?

Can it work as an emoji remover from picture files, not just the backdrop?
Not the cutout tool itself, but the same Magic erase brush used on our text-removal page paints out a pasted-on emoji or sticker the same way it removes text: switch to that brush, paint over it, and the AI rebuilds what was underneath.
Can I use a green background?
Yes. The AI finds your outline whatever is behind you, so a background green picture cuts out as cleanly as a plain wall, with no physical green screen needed. Afterwards, pick green from the swatches for a background picture green result if you are heading into a chroma-key edit: the model separates you first, then the green picture background goes back in behind you.
Can it remove a photo filter?
No, it isn't a picture filter remover: it swaps the backdrop but doesn't undo an Instagram-style colour filter baked into the photo. For that you need the original, unfiltered file.
Can I use black or blue?
Yes. Pick black from the colour picker for a high-contrast black picture background. The Blue swatch gives a blue background picture; for the paler blue some ID and visa photos ask for, set a blue background with the colour picker.
Is there a profile picture cropper too?
